The Casas dos Milagres are a set of three Local Accommodation units located in the small village of Maceira, in Dois Portos, in the municipality of Torres Vedras, about 40 km from Lisbon airport.
This is a family project that was born from the desire to restore some houses in the village that were in ruins, in order to revitalize the rural areas of the municipality and to establish a connection between the local inhabitants and visitors from other parts of the world.
The name “Milagres” was inspired by the sanctuary of Nossa Senhora dos Milagres, whose history dates back to the 16th century and is associated with a local legend. Situated on a hill near Maceira, this small chapel is a symbolic place in the region and holds great sentimental value for the family. Known for its history and devotion, it gives the Casas dos Milagres a sense of tradition and spirituality that we want to share with our guests.
All the houses have been transformed and adapted to modern comfort standards while maintaining the characteristics of the traditional Portuguese architecture of the region. These spaces are ideal for families, couples, or groups of friends who wish to explore the surrounding nature and local traditions.
Casa do Jogo, Casa do Chafariz, and Casa do Largo were restored with those seeking tranquility and peace in the interior of western Portugal in mind, a region with so much to discover.
The geographical location of the accommodations allows for visits to coastal towns such as Nazaré (80km), Peniche (65km), Santa Cruz (30km), and Ericeira (45km), or historic villages such as Óbidos (50km) and Mafra (35km).
For those who choose to relax in the village, we recommend a walk along the marked trails in the surrounding forest. If you prefer to explore a bit more, Torres Vedras, the main city of the municipality, is only a 20-minute drive away. This city offers a rich history, vibrant culture, and various leisure and entertainment options.
This western region of Portugal is famous for its wine production, being a designated area of Lisbon wines. If you are a wine enthusiast, you should not miss the opportunity to visit one of the many local wineries for a tasting of the smooth yet complex wines. We will take care of making the reservation.
